25 things about me, before I turn 26 in less than 2 weeks.

So here are 25 random notes about myself

1. I crave being in the spotlight/ centre of attention. BUT my nerves always get the better of me when I’m in that position. I need to overcome this.

2. I believe in beauty, freedom and truth. Not so settled on believing on love though. That differentiates me from a Bohemian.

3. I really hope that a special someone will appear in my life and change 2nd last sentence of the previous point.

4. I believe in music as the mother of all languages. It never fails to deliver thoughts and emotions through unique combination of melody, rhythm and lyrics.

5. Of all the different genres of music, I love ballads the most.

6. I love sappy ballads best and I know that they’re often the most satisfying to deliver at a ktv session.

7. The significance of singing to me- It is not a just a pastime. Neither is it just an interest or hobby. It used to be an obsession. Right now, it’s an addiction.

8. I completed more than 2 years of unplugged vocal training at Lee Wei Song School of Music.

9. I had the opportunity to participate in a mini-contest on stage during Sun Yan Zi’s Yes 93.3FM Campus Concert in SAJC in 2001. I won the competition in singing “我要的幸福” and got to sing “开始懂了“ with her. =)

10. Right now, I am aiming to be a leisure pub-singer songwriter. I’m currently taking keyboard playing and composing lessons to work towards that dream.

11. I love to travel! The unparalled mystery and beauty of mother nature is something which I always look forward to on a trip.

12. I enjoy planning my itenary for travel as much as I love my travelling. It gives me great satisfaction when the research and planning for the trip/s pay off nicely and puts a smile on the faces of me and my friends.

13. The aurora is one of the most magnifient phenomenons in the night sky that I always dreamt of seeing. I am really grateful for the opportunity of having seen it in Norway.

14. Speaking of astro phenomenon, I’m quite intrigued by some of the celestial entities in astrophysics. I’m quite fascinated by the nebulaes in particular.

15. I was in the Science Discovery Club in SAJC. Had a couple of experiences stargazing at the amphitheatre outside LT3. Didn’t manage to see much celestial bodies coz of the cloud cover and light pollution from the PSA, harbourfront areas. We turned the telescope towards PSA building and observed executives carrying files and coffee on the Nth storey of the building.

16. My JC Physics tutor, also my CCA teacher in charge played a pivotal role in converting me into somewho abhorrs Physics to someone who loves it. He is the legendary Mr Mannan from SAJC, now the vice principal of Sengkang Secondary School.

17. If I ever were to become a physics teacher in this lifetime, you can be sure that I’ll try to emulate him and shadow his footsteps. I just hope that I dun lose my identity along the way though.

18. I am someone who believes in being true to myself. I cannot stand it when someone tries to change me for who they want me to be. I just want to be someone who’d answer to me.

19. That doesn’t mean that I’m totally unreceptive to comments by friends who are sincere and want me to be a better person. Habits do die hard and I need concious tinkers if I remain deviant.

20. I am very glad that I have very good friends who bear with me, stand by me and accept me for who I am and not what I can give. I just want to thank all of you for being such great friends. Cheers!

21. I need to make a conscientious improvement on self- awareness and being more sensitive to others.

22. I want to be in a profession that I can make a great positive impact on lives.

23. I believe in the unprecedented and revolutionary advances in biomedical and tissue engineering in saving lifes/ improving the quality of lifes.

24. I am at crossroads as to which direction I should head in career and personal development. Should I continue chasing my passion in biomedical research?? Or should I be a realist and just go for a job that pays well and still makes a positive impact on lifes?

25. I do look forward to sharing deeper discussions with close friends on believes and philosophies of life. =)

Fall in love & Songs- 静茹&情歌: 别再为他流泪

Yeah, finally a much awaited album. This album has got like 12 new songs + bonus ep that has her duets with Leo Ku, Lu Guang Zhong and Pin Guan. Will do an extensive review and recommendation on it soon.

Well, I know that I’m a rather impulsive and emotional person. Sometimes I just speak at the top of my head without much thinking.

Most of the times, I don’t mean it as an insult or to purposely irritate. Ok, sometimes I juz feel very lonely as an only child bah.

To whomever who feels offended by wad I have said or done recently, pls don’t be. I know that I’m not good at apologies and I don’t think there’s a need to apologise over trivial matters.
That’s just me.

Alright… just felt like letting off a little bit of rants tonite. That’s all folks.

Of Cords, Major and Minor

Today marks my 2nd composing class at Lee Wei Song School of music.

Personally, I find the pace of the class is rather fast. Its the 2nd lesson and we have been taught the chords C Maj, G Maj, G7, F Maj, C/G, A Min, E Maj, E7 together with the Major Scale, Harmonic & Natural Minor Scale.

Realise that I have very stiff fingers and a terrible sense of coordination. The instructors termed my bad fingering posture  as  “spider fingers” where I lift my fingers that are off the keys too high up. I also have the tendency to let my palm lax and slip downwards when I’m playing (the back of the palm is supposed to be sorta parallel to the ground). Apart from this, I find that it’s a major challenge in left hand striking the key and right hand playing the chords (3 keys) in an alternating fashion and switching between the chords. Heh… the practise pieces just sounded weird with intermittent breaks that disrupt the rhythm of the song.

It’s time to get a keyboard for self practise. Hope to get a cheap keyboard where I can plug into my laptop usb port after the CNY.

On a happier note, I had a great time on Friday meeting up with CD, TY and Lionel for dinner and chats. Find that such gatherings really uplift my spirits from the monotony and frustration of work. The macha sundae I ordered at MOF was damn heavenly.

 This got me craving for a second round of deserts today. Decided to head back to Royal Copenhagen with SG’s Ebenezer (who obviously din order anything) after shopping around for CNY clothes. 

 

Oooh La La... The pudding is moist, soft and spongy well blended with the aroma of red dates. Think it'd be better with chocolate sauce though.

Geez, I guess I better keep a close watch on one of the resolutions of mine if I continue eating liddat. :p

No Uncanny Resemblances

My best friend, aka my QBWDT 师傅, had mentioned on more than one occasion that whenever he sees 卢广仲, he is reminded of me. He says that this 音乐鬼才 bears an uncanny resemblence to me.

Where got???? Eh… He got 100 种生活， I got 无穷无尽种生活OK?

If I’m a 宅男， then I will be a 帅气宅男 OK? Heee.. think 方大同 is a much better inspiration in terms of 宅男 look. Don’t really listen to his songs though.

Here’ a tribute to my very 1st vocal coach who wrote this fabulous song for 那英-一笑而过。

Well, don’t have any experience in love which I can relate to in this sappy love ballad. However, I do remember a pretty bad week for me where I fell out with one of best friends since SAJC when I realised that I’ve been betrayed by him. Yet, he felt so indignant about it. He turned around and accused me of being petty then. Sigh~! But its time to put the past all behind me now.

Here’s a new song from Ms Fishy dat I really enjoy. It’s written with the intent of cheering people who have stumbled out of a failed relationship. They shouldn’t be disheartened, because what ever is destined to be theirs, will eventually be theirs.

I haven’t been in a relationship, but then I’ve stumbled upon more times than I can remember when it comes to profession secret admiration of gals whom I have taken a liking to. Exhausted. Physically, mentally and spirtually. Thank goodness for this song, I really hope that issues of the heart will work out eventually in life.
